A career is all about the future of an individual in a specific domain after completing graduation or post-graduation. In this digital era, where the economy of a country is moving from offline to online mode, where everything is done in one single click whether it’s the payment of transaction or education. In such a case students have many career options or we can say many career opportunities in front of them, which makes them slightly confused regarding their career decision. The demand for the engineering stream is always higher among students because such a field offers them many career opportunities after completion of graduation.

Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest fields, it has been observed that the demand for engineers is higher all around the world. But the demand for engineers who have sound knowledge of technical and nontechnical aspects because to pursue engineering is not sufficient until the candidate has strong conceptual and practical knowledge. Nowadays many students complain about the lack of career opportunities after completion of graduation in engineering, many of them are jobless, and the main reason behind that is the lack of conceptual and practical knowledge among them as per the corporate world, this is the reason they don’t get hired.

Students are required to make themselves strong in technical and nontechnical aspects during their engineering programs because no company wants to hire a candidate who is not sound in technical and non-technical aspects of engineering. Students are much worried about what will happen to their career once they complete the engineering studies. If they do not get a job in campus placement, what will they do? and many more questions. Despite focusing on such questions they should work on upgrading their knowledge and skills which will help them in building up confidence and make them ready to face a challenge while cracking the interview in campus placements and getting their dream jobs.

Some career opportunities for students after pursuing engineering are:

  • Higher Studies:

Many students after completing graduation in engineering start looking for a job or get placed in some company. But many students are interested in higher studies, therefore they start preparing for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)  for getting admission opportunities into top engineering colleges like IIT and NIT for M.Tech/M.E /Ph.D. Programs and Research Fellowship.

  • Campus Placements

Students can also join a job that they get during their campus placements. But to grab a job in campus placement students must ensure a good CGPA. Participation in extracurricular activities adds to the preparation for job interviews in the companies the students want to apply for the job. Starting your career with a job through campus placement is great because it opens the door to the corporate world and once you start your career in the corporate world then you start knowing how things work and try to reach a higher step in the career ladder.

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Studying Management after completion of engineering is quite high in demand among students. Nowadays many students after completion of their engineering go for their MBA Degree They start preparing for competitive examinations like CAT (Common  Aptitude Test) in order to get admission into the best MBA colleges to pursue their master’s degree. The company demands a master’s degree for managerial roles and one can become the highest-paid professionals after completing an MBA. Engineering with an MBA Degree is the perfect match in the corporate world.

  • Experts

One can become an expert and start providing consultancy to businesses or firms in the market for their exponential growth. Nowadays every second businessman needs a consultant who guides them as per market trends to take steps into their business for growth. Such consultants possess specific knowledge and skills in specific areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Data Science, and Blockchain or we can say they are fully updated on what’s new in the market.

  • Entrepreneurship and Startups

Engineers are mainly known for innovating and research so students after completion of graduation can start their ventures or becomes an entrepreneur. The status concept is very famous among engineering students like two or three engineering students can start their venture without investments of huge capital. They can project their ideas in front of companies under their start-up and even they can work on projects that are outsourced from many companies all over the world. Such start-ups allow them to work at their convenience without any time foundations.

  • Public Services Undertakings:

The public sector is in great craze among students, and many students pursue engineering to work for the government sectors for which they are required to clear the GATE examination. The competition level is higher because of limited vacancies in companies like BHEL, SAIL, and IOCL but the pay is also higher as compared to other industry sectors because big things come with big responsibilities.

 

Engineers are Innovators! How we can say that an innovator is not having enough career opportunities, there are tons of career opportunities for engineers and engineering aspirants in the market. Career opportunities are totally upon a candidate how he or she generates them as per their specialization in the stream of engineering. Rather than wondering what to do or what not to do after engineering or what career opportunities are available in the industry or corporate world, better for students to focus on the engineering stream which they want to select as per their core area of interest and how innovative are they in such streams of engineering, so they can have ample career opportunities.
