- Approved Curriculum: Students must also ensure that the program they are about to select, the curriculum for it should be approved by the appropriate governing body. Many engineering colleges do not take heed of this and use old or deprecated curriculums in their teaching.
- Placement Record: A student’s ultimate aim after four years of engineering program is to get a proper placement in a reputed company. He/She should check in advance what track record of placement the prospective engineering college is offering. One should not just rely on hoardings and advertisements, they should be able to cross-verify it with the graduating students and Alumni of the said engineering college.
- Admission Process: Before confirming his/her admission, he/she should get properly acquainted with the whole admission process. What documents are required? What is the fee for the college? What are the extra charges he/she has to pay after admissions? These questions could properly be answered by the admission counselor of the said engineering college. One should meet the counsellor and properly discuss the whole admission process. Additionally, during a campus visit, one can also see the departments and interact with the college administration to get clarity.
- Scholarships and Financial Aid: Many engineering colleges offer scholarships and financial aids to potential students. One should confirm in advance what all benefits he/she can get at that institution. And also what all procedures he/she has to follow to get that benefit.
- Influence Factor: Many students during the admission time get heavily influenced by their relatives, friends, family, advertisements, hoardings, etc about various colleges and commit a mistake of taking admission to a non-deserving college.
