UGC to conduct Final-Year Exams by September End | Sagar Institute of Science & technology SISTec BLOG
The regulatory authority University Grant Commissions decides to conduct the final year examinations by the end of September 2020. The UGC conducts such examinations on the basis of SOP (standing operating procedure) issued by MHRD. The main aim of this SOP is to serve guidance to universities during the conduction of exams. There are a number of cases rising on a daily basis in COVID-19 pandemic, but still, the final year examination decision is issued by the regulatory authority.
The University Grant Commission took these decisions by undertaking the academic year creditability, future of students and career opportunities into consideration. As per UGC, an academic year plays a vital role in the career of students. The examinations boost the confidence of students and also give them satisfaction regarding there evaluated performance.
After the issue of guidelines, students across the country are not satisfied, therefore they started running a campaign in the name of #GeneralPromotion over Twitter and other social media platforms too. The guidelines are majorly focused on conducting exams with proper precautions for students and invigilator.
The SOP mentioned that centre of examinations doors, floors and sitting benches shall be disinfected by sprayed disinfections. The sanitizer bottles shall be arranged by the centre of examinations for students and invigilators in examinations hall and staff rooms. Seating arrangements will be prepared by undertaking in the concern of social distancing in which every alternate seat of student sitting will be empty. Arogya Setu app will be mandatory in the cell phones of each examiner.
Every examiner is liable to submit their self-declaration certificate of medical fitness to the institute before conducting the examination duty. There will be a compulsory check of body temperature through the thermal scanners at the main gate of the examination centre for every individual who wants to enter the premises.
In this manner, exams will be conducted by undertaking all such guidelines by UGC because according to them, general promotion is not the solution. The students who are preparing for exams during the year, with the hope of getting good placements and social acceptability, general promotion is injustice for them. This pandemic situation of COVID19 will end in near future, but our Honourable Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi mentions that we have to start living with this coronavirus pandemic till the vaccine arrives but with proper precautions by using masks and hand sanitizer from time to time.
