Why to pursue BE from an Engineering College in MP?

In this article, we have outlined the pain points that have seriously degraded the craze of technical education in the country and the top engineering colleges in MP that have managed to keep hold of the evolving global requirements to produce the best of engineers.

Empty seats waiting for their incumbents

Madhya Pradesh is one of the largest states of India in terms of area and population. However, in terms of economy and business, MP has been far behind other major states. As a result, professional education also did not grow much in MP in the late 90s when all the other states were riding the wave of setting up engineering and medical colleges.

Nevertheless, in last 10 years, MP has significantly improved its standing on economic and higher education parameters. Need not tell, for any state to make technological and economic progress, Engineering education plays an important role. Realizing this need, the Government of MP facilitated opening of more than 200 engineering colleges in the state, of which majority of them are in Bhopal and Indore. Currently, in 2017, there are more than 210 engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh with an intake of more than 78,000 seats per year. They are affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Bhopal and  offer BE / B tech courses in Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation, Automobile and many other branches of engineering.

However, with the establishment of a huge number of colleges in Bhopal, another problem arose for the students: the problem of differentiation between this good number of institutes. How to select the best college of engineering, pharmacy or for say management among so much options. Due to non-availability of verified fact based data, most of the times students relied on year of establishment of the college to choose. They preferred older colleges over newer ones. However, the criteria has become misleading with so many older colleges not performing upto the desired levels of engineering education.

And against this, many upcoming colleges have done significantly better than their older counterparts. For example, Medicaps, Gyanganga, SISTec (Sagar Group) are such names which have done tremendously well in a short span of time. They are not only more responsive to the present needs of the students and industry but have also laid more focus on skill aspect of education. Many skills based training initiatives like Sagar Manthan, Sagar Saarthi, programming mania, Aptitude training, etc. have highlighted SISTec as a top engineering college in Bhopal.

The benefit of these initiatives is also evident from the number of placements they have been able to deliver. SISTec Gandhinagar alone has given 280+ selections this year with around 65 companies coming in for campus placements. Thus making it one of the Best Placement Colleges in Bhopal. Taking a lesson, now most of the older colleges like LNCT, Oriental and others have also started focusing on industrial training of students.This is a good development in MP and will ensure an abundant supply of trained manpower for industrialization of the state.

Core Technical Courses are there to stay

You must have seen students going to IIT-JEE Coachings like FITJEE, Maheshwari or Kota for the preparation of IIT-JEE but when they fail to achieve a seat in country's top-most engineering institutions they have left with not that greater options to fulfill their dreams of engineering. However, now the onus is on the government, university and industry to help this trend to continue and let more shining examples like SISTec to come up. This is very important for the success of programs like Make in India and Skill India.

Overall we can say that Engineering colleges in Bhopal have emerged as one the best places to do an engineering degree that is skill-based, job oriented and inexpensive as well.
